Michelle Keener is a freelance writer and the author of Shared Courage:  A Marine Wife’s Story of Strength and Service. Michelle was born and raised in California. She attended California Lutheran University and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Drama. Michelle then went on to attend the Claremont School of Theology where she earned a Master’s degree in Systematic Theology.

While living in San Diego, Michelle met and married Paul Keener, an officer in the United States Marine Corps. When Paul was the communications officer for the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines in 29 Palms, CA he was deployed twice to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Michelle served as a Key Volunteer for the battalion during the deployments and took over as the KV Coordinator for the second deployment. Her experiences as the wife of a Marine sent to war inspired her to write Shared Courage.

In 2005, Paul and Michelle were transferred back to Quantico. They currently live in Northern Virginia with their two children. In addition to her writing career, Michelle is a frequent public speaker. She is also the Virginia state coordinator for Operation Special Delivery, an organization that provides labor support to wives of deployed servicemen.
